Emergency Medical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
An emergency medical technician is also known as an EMT. An EMT will usually answer 911 distress calls along with a paramedic. An EMT will work behind the ambulance and care for the sick and injured. An EMT has to work fast and logically for the patient’s life depends on how quick reacts. An EMT will also help transport the patients to medical facilities, where the patient will be taken care of and diagnosed. An EMT will record the medical treatments and cares of the patient and share them, with the doctors and other medical staff. An EMT will then clean up, replace and take inventory of  the equipment used to treat the patient when done. Although most EMTs work on the ground others work in helicopters and airplanes.
Salary:An EMT will make $31,980 a year.
Education: To become an EMT you need to complete a postsecondary educational school. An associate’s degree is needed in medical technology. You will also need to be licensed. You will also need 150 hours of specialized training.
Demand for this profession: This profession is expected to increase by 24% in the year 2024.
Reflection: I would like to be this because it requires you to act quickly and I like to think I’m very good working under pressure. There is also little education required and the pay is not that bad.
