Homecoming
Homecoming is an annual festivity that is celebrated to welcome back alumni and former residents. Homecoming originated back in the 19th century. During 1911 Kansas vs. Missouri claimed to be the first homecoming game. Baylor, Illinois, and Missouri claimed to have planned their first homecoming celebration in 1910. This festivity quickly became popular during the 1920s. From then on it has become a tradition. Some of the events and activities that take place during homecoming are football games, rallies, parades, speeches, and most popular the dance. It is called homecoming game because the alumni, community , and former residents come back to their university or college. Technically, it’s like they are coming “home” hence the name homecoming. The school may or may not be along with mums. Mums is another name for a corsage.  For girls their dresses are to be semi-formal. A cocktail dress is fine and most commonly worn. Guys are to wear a suit and tie. The use of long dresses and tuxedos are not necessary unless the dress code is formal.

My thoughts  of homecoming are very whimsical. I think of it as a way to show school spirit. The thought that comes to mind is the football game. A game is usually the most spirit packed thin of the whole night. I am very excited to write that i am going to homecoming this year of 2016!
