“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.”
By: Dean Smith

File:DeanSmithcropped2.jpg Dean Smith is an all-star in the basketball world. He has won 879 games and still remained humble. To add to his greatness 96% of his players graduated. All throughout his career he never desired to be considered a legend much less leave a legacy. In the statement he goes on to say that he was only trying to do what was right. I know now how important and beneficial it is to be a good person. If you do what is right and good there should be no other outcomes besides greatness. Leaving behind such an eye-opening statement it has given me a better reason as to why I should continue to be a good person and make sure to choose the right. I don’t plan to leave a legacy behind but if it just so happens, I’m pretty sure it’s going to because of who I was. An example for this is Miley Cyrus. Although she does do things that are not considered “good” in society she does good. She is the founder of a LGBT community that goes under the name The Happy Hippie Foundation. There she allows teens who are going through tough times be heard and make the feel like they matter, because they do. She even released a free album and still managed to sell out all her shows. She is truly a legacy and she doesn’t even try. She made it through her hard work and desire to help people. In my opinion, a legend truly is someone who is humble about it much like Dean
