“ Intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.“
By: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King was a wise guy and is trying to teach us that just being smart is not going to cut it. You need to, not only be smart but be a good person. I interpret it as so. He said true education and that to me lets me know that by being smart doesn’t mean you could be truly successful. There is no point in being not that's good of a person but being smart. An example could be when looking for a job in retailing. You could be the wisest person in the business but because you are not amicable it will make others think you are untrustworthy. That will lead to failure because you don’t have what it takes to truly succeed. Of course, that can change if you know how to treat others and make a great character for yourself. Same goes the other way around. Just because you are a good person doesn’t guarantee a job. You may get the job because people like others that can communicate well but if you don’t know how to sell you are most likely going to lose your job. You need to be both sides of the spectrum to know what it is like to truly have the goal of an education.
