“ Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it.”
By: William Penn

This quote by William Penn is seen everywhere and sadly it is not always followed. I have always liked to do things my own way so I actually picture this quote in my life. A lot of people like to try to fit in and that is not always the best thing. There could be people who are doing the wrong thing and just because you want to fit in you go and do what they’re doing as well. This happens all the time with friends and peer pressure. For example, all of your friends are going to a party where there is going to be alcohol and people are going to be smoking. You are all underage and you know you shouldn’t go but you go anyways because all your friends are going. You might not think much of it because if you get in trouble you are going to get in trouble with your friends. So there you go doing the wrong because all of your friends are doing so. An example of the first one would also be the party one. If you know you have to study for a big test tomorrow and your friends are all going to that crazy party you think of staying because you know it is a bad idea to party on a school night. All your friends chose the wrong and you stood up for what was right, even though you were the only one. Those are two relevant examples that actually occur and people either follow or stand up  for what they know was right. Being the person that doesn’t follow everyone else when they are wrong may seem to be like a party pooper. You might even be made fun of. The real thing here is that not everyone is right and knowing that you are better off. So to finish off this sss i’d like to say that you shouldn’t be afraid to be different from everyone else who thinks they might be right.

“Don’t sacrifice what you want more for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often.”
By Peter Vidmar
This quote is incredibly eye opening. I mean I could actually relate to this quote. I believe that what you want in the future is more important than what you want right now because of this quote. This is my new motto because of how true it is. The second part of the quote says to write down your goal and visit it frequently. That means to visualize it; to always keep in mind your goal. If you stop and do whatever you want to because it is easier than your ultimate goal you are never going to accomplish anything. This is because everything will seem easier than your goal. You have to take chances and sacrifice what you want to do for what you want to do in the future. An example of this would be if you want to get straight A’s. To do so you need to study hard and do your class and homework daily. Instead your conscience is telling you to be on your phone. You decide to hold up studying for you phone and you get a bad grade on the test. That bad grade will then affect your overall grade for the class and then that grade will mess up your GPA. Next time you decide to make studying a goal of yours and you write it down so you know get an A.
Homecoming
Homecoming is an annual festivity that is celebrated to welcome back alumni and former residents. Homecoming originated back in the 19th century. During 1911 Kansas vs. Missouri claimed to be the first homecoming game. Baylor, Illinois, and Missouri claimed to have planned their first homecoming celebration in 1910. This festivity quickly became popular during the 1920s. From then on it has become a tradition. Some of the events and activities that take place during homecoming are football games, rallies, parades, speeches, and most popular the dance. It is called homecoming game because the alumni, community , and former residents come back to their university or college. Technically, it’s like they are coming “home” hence the name homecoming. The school may or may not be along with mums. Mums is another name for a corsage.  For girls their dresses are to be semi-formal. A cocktail dress is fine and most commonly worn. Guys are to wear a suit and tie. The use of long dresses and tuxedos are not necessary unless the dress code is formal.

My thoughts  of homecoming are very whimsical. I think of it as a way to show school spirit. The thought that comes to mind is the football game. A game is usually the most spirit packed thin of the whole night. I am very excited to write that i am going to homecoming this year of 2016!

“ A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life”
By: Coach K

A good name can open a lot of doors a bad name can not. Money isn’t anything compared to a good name because a good name is something people think of you and people’s opinions can’t be bought. People will think what they want and no one can change that. Usually we do things that we don’t think will affect us in the long run but the truth is it really does. An example would be if they caught you doing the wrong thing and had drugs in your possession. If the cops catch you and fill up a report that say you are a drug dealer you have earned a bad name and sure that might had made you a lot of money. That money might have got you meany lavish things, but that is nothing because now people won’t want to hire you if you need a job. They will prefer to hire someone with a clean record and a good name. Like the quote states, a good name is better than anything you can achieve in life because you will have ample opportunities. A good name is something you can’t fix because if you are a bad person, people will never think you the same way. Even if they do they will say,” Oh yeah but he was a bad person.” A good name is an achievement itself and it might be the best one you will ever accomplish. That is because it’s one that will last you your whole life.

“ A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.”
Proverbs 22:1
A good name is always more important than money because your name is your reputation. When people hear your name you want them to remember you for something good. This is because when people think of you you want them to have a good image because they might recommend you for something good. It may be a better job or for a college. That will eventually make you a person with a rich character. Then people will remember what a good person you were all by your name because you were a CTR person. A person with a bad name is a person with a bad reputation. When that person’s name is brought up will be a bad memory. That will make others think bad of you making you a poor person. This is because you have a poor character. An example of this would be Jesus Christ. He was a good person because he chose to die for everyone’s sins. He gained fame and a good name by being a good person. Now whenever someone mentions his name we think of what a good person he was.

“ If your so-called friends urge you to do anything, you know to be wrong, You be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be the light for others to follow.”
By: Thomas S. Monson

This quote is so true because not everything that your friends are doing is right. I mean you do know them and trust them but that doesn’t make them right. Some people will be peer- pressured into doing some of the things they know are bad but that wakes it worse. If you know it’s wrong to do something but you do it anyways that is ignorance from your part. If you choose the right, and stay away from what you know is wrong you will be better off. You will have chosen to do the right thing and know you will be out of trouble. My mom always told me that friends that let you, tell you, or even make you do something wrong are not friends at all. She said that if they were really my friends they wouldn’t let me do something dumb. I live by this quote for that reason. I have never had an issue not fitting in. On the contrary, I’m always doing things that thats what i feel is the  right thing to do. Sure, they may not always be but at least I have a plausible reason as to why I did them.  An example of this quote would be drugs. I if you are out with your friends and they offer you drugs they are not your friends. Just because all your other friends agreed to take some you should say no. Your real friends will not offer you something that will not benefit you. At the end of the day you are what you want; and if you want to listen to someone who just wants to make your life more difficult is not a friend of yours.

“ A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself. ”
Image result for ctr personBy: Neomi Trigueros

A champion from football could have a great heap of cash and fame but that will never compare to a person who chooses the right. If you choose the right you feel better about yourself and that makes you a champion. As long as you know you are doing the right thing the world will reward you. Sure it’s nice to be idolized for being the best but that us nothing compared to a person who is being idolized for doing the right thing. Even though money could get you places it isn’t everything. With that said, it is fair to say that if you’re a good person you might even be rewarded at the end. For example, if you find a person’s wallet and return it that person will thank you and might be so delighted that they might reward you. If you decide to keep it sure you’ll have money but when spending it you’ll feel guilty because you’re spending someone’s money. If you were a CTR person in the first place you would have been better off. That prove the quote exactly. If you are a person who chooses to do the right you will be rewarded and that rewards could be currency, gratitude, or even laudatory. This quote is true for me because I been throw a situation where it was better to do the right then to win but win by cheating.

“Goal setting is goal getting. Set and get.”
By: Mark Victor Hansen

It was always said to me that I have to work for what I want. I think that was in relation to this quote. As a high school student you have to know what you want to become as an adult because if you don’t know you will waste time trying to figure out what you want to do with your life. I have to make sure I know what I want to do. I have to know what i want to work for. If i don’t know what I want to do I probably won’t do a good job. For people to meet their goals they have to have a goal. If you have no goal, you aren’t going anywhere. In other words you are working for nothing. You have to have a goal in mind. That goal will let you know how hard to work. For example, if you want to be good at a sport you need to have a specific sport or else you won’t get enough practice to become proficient in a sport. If your goal is to become a great soccer player you will know to put your all when practicing. You will practice soccer until you get to the point where you have reached your goal. That way you will accomplish your goal, because you know what your goal is.
Columbus Day
Columbus day is celebrated to honor Christopher Columbus. It is celebrated on October the 10th of 2016. Traditionally it is celebrated every 2nd Monday of October. Columbus Day is celebrated to honor Christopher Columbus’ achievements and others celebrate it to honor the Italian-American heritage. Christopher was the first European to explore America. He landed on the Bahamian Islands when he really was on his route to China,India, and the parts Asia. The voyage took place on October 12, 1492. This occurred because he didn't know that the Pacific ocean existed. When Columbus and his crew got the re they were the first Europeans to establish a Spanish colony.  When Columbus returned to Europe he brought back gold, spices, and Indians; which were Native-Americans. Columbus realized that he wasn’t traveling to Asia on his third trip to America. By that time he had realized he had found a new colony unknown to the Europeans back home.

Columbus day was first celebrated in 1792 in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of having landed on the “new” continent. President Franklin D. Roosevelt then established Columbus day as a federal holiday. This act made it official in 1937. It used to be celebrated every October 12 but that changed to the second Monday of October in the year 1971.

“When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of stumbling block, it becomes a building block.”
By: James E. Faust

I already established that being obedient is they key to success and that it’s part of being a CTR person. Being obedient will take you a long way hence the quote calling it a building block. The quote states that  when obedience is your goal it is no longer an irritation. To me, this means that when you have other things in your mind obedience is difficult to achieve. When your goal is not obedience or to be a CTR person you will do anything to achieve it whether or not you are obedient. You forget about being obedient and focus on your goal. You then aim to accomplish your goal and probably won’t care if did it and were an obedient person. Obedience becomes a stumbling stone. When your goal is to be an obedient person you will thrive to be an obedient person. You will end up being a good person because that is your goal. You want to make it there so being obedient will get you there. You will then not have a difficulty being a good person. You will be one step closer to your goal when you do as you are told. When you see that being an obedient person will make you improve everything, you’ll want to do it. It will no longer be an irritation. For example, if your goal is to become an outstanding basketball player you won’t stop until you are. That means it doesn’t matter whether you are being obedient as long as you meet your goal. If you are an thrive to be an outstanding player and be a good person. It’s a 2 for 1 deal.
