Class Evaluation

Despite the fact that many people told me this was going to be a boring class I actually like it. One of the reasons as to why I like this class is because of the vibe. It gives me a relaxing vibe where I could  just contemplate on my actions and publish them. I also like how this class consists of freshmen, sophomores and juniors. I also like that we are always dismissed with a song; it just makes my day.

I actually really like this class. The only thing that I didn't was my grade. It was so difficult to get my grade to an A from an 89.93. I mean sure it could be rounded off but it wouldn't feel as accomplishing as would an A. I also didn't like haw this class would make me feel so cold in my next class. I noticed that every day I had the classes in order. That really has nothing to do with the class itself but it just linked to it.

I recommend that we change seats every two weeks or something along those lines. It would really give us a chance to get to know more people rather than our elbow partners. Another thing is that we should get more time to do the journals in class. It makes it easier to log. For my last recommendation I suggest to play music while we do the actual typing.

The highlight of this class was being in the same room as my cousin. She is the only family member that I have in this school and it is great to see her in class and keep an eye on her. Another highlight would be getting all these statements to reflect on. I have really made sure to choose the right more often than not and it has benefited me greatly.

I actually did do my best in this class. I always put a lot of effort into my daily posts. I also really enjoyed doing the student success statements so I put a good amount of effort into most of them. Sometimes theres days where I just don't feel like typing but even then i still try to make them enjoyable to read.I also try hard on completing my goals.

I do do my life planning journal.I have a total of around 950 goals. My ultimate goal is to have 1,000 before 2017. Even though I do my goals I almost never log them because I get lazy. I know it's bad to be lazy but sometimes I just don't have the time to do so. Non the less I always catch up and log them in.

I would love to committed to being a CTR person because it just allows you to be in a state of clear mind. It is going to be difficult but we just have to accept the fact that this is life. In order to have a good life you have to be a good person and the the right thing.

Integrity behind Cheating

In the video presented to us my our teacher we were taught that some go far beyond for standing up for what's right. The example used in the story is that of medical students taking their first exam of medical school. The students were left testing in the room by the professor. As soon as he left there were cheat sheets coming from most students. One of the students in the back stood up to say that his three children and wife were living in an apartment so that he could go to medical school. Following that he stated that everyone who he caught cheating will be reported to the professor. As he said that the other students began to put away their notes and took the test with integrity. That act of integrity made the others reflect on honesty and as a result they were able to hold the title of the largest group of students to graduate from that medical school. The video then links this to a high school scenario.

In the high school setting there is a test being taken and when the teacher isn’t looking, one of the students asked for the answer to one of the questions and the other rejected her request.
“ When you tell one lie it leads to another.”
By: Paul Hatch

Paul Hatch stated that one lie will only lead to another and is completely right. When you lie you come up with more lies to cover that lie up and the result will be a plethora of lies. This will eventually give you a bad name as a liar. We’ve learned that having a bad name is not something that you should be happy for. If you have a bad name for being a liar then that means people will not trust you and trust is one of the best things you could ever have. If people no longer trust you then your life will suck because there will be nobody who will want to ask you for anything because you’re going to lie. I have plenty of lieing experiences and they weren’t all that good. An example of this is when I told my mom I had taken out the chicken from the freezer. I laid back after the phone call and when she called to see what i wanted to eat she told me that she wasn’t far from the house so I began to panic because i had not yet taken the chicken from the freezer. I set up a pot with boiling water and put the chicken in. Mind you the chicken was still in the bag. I checked on it after a few minutes and i saw that the bag was burning. I then thought that the chemicals from the plastic were seeping into the water where the chicken was. I took out the bag and checked on it later only to find out the chicken had cooked. I began to panic because I had cooked the chicken I said I had put to thaw.  I knew my mom was going to get mad so I took the chicken and put it in a container, covered it and placed it in the back of the fridge. When she came back I told her that the chicken was bad and that I had to throw it away. That is not that bad of a lie but i did have to come up with multiple lies to convince my mom.

The sting of the scorpion
The sting of the scorpion tells the story of Elder Patrick Kearon when he was just a child. His family and him went out camping in the Arabian Peninsula. As you may know the Arabian Peninsula is mostly desert and that is the reason as to why his mother told him to put shoes on. Patrick though that there was no need to wear shoes because he was just going for a walk and didn’t need to put shoes on. Instead he put convinced himself that flip flops will do. As he walked he felt a sting and to his astonishment it was a scorpion that had caused such pain. He yelled over at his parents and they took him to the nearest hospital which was over two hours away. In a rush his parents took him to the hospital where he was treated and because of that act of disobedience he learned a powerful lesson.
The moral of the story was that you should always listen to what your parents say because they are only looking out for you. You shouldn’t wait until you get stung by the scorpion to do whats right. You should obey and prevent any disasters from occurring.
Always do right.
By: Mark Twain
If you always do right there is no chance of you committing any bad in your life. Those who choose to do wrong will get themselves into trouble that you can avoid by choosing the right. Like I stated many times before it is always beneficial to do right because that way you can’t get yourself into trouble. For example if you have a random notebook check and you are sure to keep it nice and organized you will most likely get that A, but if you had a bad habit of doing everything last minute then you will get an F and that will affect your overall grade in the class. That is a good example because it’s actually pretty relatable. By doing the right all the time you are avoiding the wrong and the chances of any problems in the future. In my opinion this is true but is very difficult to do. Like I try to be a CTR person but sometimes you see no other options. Mark Twain seems like a smart man and what he is talking about is pretty straight forward. If you choose to misguide yourself then you will be going against this statement. It is difficult but it also isn’t impossible.

“It is better to be alone than to be in bad company.”
By: Unknown

When you are alone you tend to contemplate about what needs to get done and you do it to keep from being bored. When alone, some people develop hobbies like reading, writing, painting or even playing video games. Those hobbies you developed while you were alone may take you further in life because you might decide that, that was your passion all along. If you were with bad company you will most likely getting yourself into serious trouble all because you didn’t want to be alone. I believe being alone will help students in the future because it helps them prioritize their schedule. It also gives you the time to reflect and just better yourself in anything. For example if you are alone on a Saturday you might decide to read a book or stay home. All your friends went to a party and got really drunk. Not all of them wanted to but since everyone else was doing it they drank too. Instead of going out with bad company yo stayed home and wake up completely fine on Sunday. This is not the best example but it gives you an idea of bad company. In my opinion In other words you keep yourself from regretting things in the future because everyone else was doing it. Although it way seem boring to be alone it will keep you from irreversible trouble. The original author may be unknown but that doesn’t mean it is not important.
World War II
Many will answer when Japan attacked pearl harbor when asked how did World War II begin. The truth is that World War II began with China versus Japan. The feud was caused on July 7, 1937 when the Marco Polo Bridge incident occurred. Then was a more infamous event between Germany and France. On September 1, 1939, the Germans took over Poland and that led to Britain and France to declare war against Hitler’s Nazi state in retaliation. From then on that date was saved as the beginning of World War II. Countries such as Germany, Italy, and Japan were all in the Axis of power. On the other side was Britain, France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, The Soviet Union, and China. They were known as the allies. The United States will later be an addition to the allies when the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred. The Pearl Harbor attack was caused by the Japanese bombing the coast of Hawaii where the U.S. Navy was stationed. This occurred on  December 7, 1941 when president Roosevelt Franklin was in office. This was the cause for the United States to get involved. The U.S had lost about 2,300 Americans due to the bombing. The war would later end on September 2, 1945.
A few events that happened at this time was when Germany attacked France and that caused France to fall on June 1940. This is known to have happened when Germany took over Poland. Another event is when the Japanese rolled over Southeast Asia, Philippines, and the East Indies. This caused the Pacific war on June 1942. The battle only lasted four days. This was know as The Battle of Midway. There was also an event called D-Day. This was when general Dwight Eisenhower led the U.S. and allied troops to invade Normandy, France. The invasion occurred on June 6, 1944. Germany then surrendered on May 7, 1945.
To honor the veterans from World War II we can give a moment of silence. We also honor them on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. We can also  celebrate them on Veterinarian's day. There are also a few ways that people like to celebrate their fallen relatives and that is up to them and how they find fitting to honor them.

  1. Can people trust me to do what’s right?
  2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
  3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
“ If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail.”
By: Lou Holtz
What is meant in such a statement is that if you do what’s right then there is no way any wrong will come to you. I have interpreted the failure part as a way to say that wrong will come to you as well as failure. If you do what is right all the time you will have done what you are entitled to as a human. To be a CTR person is better than anything because by choosing the right you block out any of those things that can amount to failure. The first rule Lou Holtz states is that we should have people be able to trust us to do what is right. If people trust us, then they have our backs.  They know that we are trustworthy and I can only see good coming from such an image. The second is commitment to doing your best. If you do your best you will have a better shot at doing it right then you will if you just don’t try. Along with being the best you can be you will also become better at it. My coach once told me that practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. An example that ties into the statement because if you do something just to do it and hope to be the best that is not going to work. You will receive failure. Now, when you practice perfectly and put your best you will get the hang of it and develop special skills that not a lot of people can. That perfect practice where you do your best will ensure triumph. The third rule is to treat people the way you would like to be treated and you will be treated like so. That is because people will reciprocate that same behavior that is shown to them. The good will come back to you shielding yourself from failure. Lou later states that if you answer yes to the questions then the result will not be failure. This is all logical. I mean, if people actually behave like humans then there should be no reason as to why any harm should come your way.I believe that God never intended there to be any harm it is us who make the wrong and if anyone can change it it is us.  He is a merciful God and will forgive as long as you truly believe you are wrong and wholeheartedly repent your actions. He will then accept your change in character and reward you with how you make others feel. Those people will then treat you as you treat them.
Challenges Teens Face Today
Several challenges that teens face today are due to stress. Teens today are too stressed out over anything. Some stress out about school while others stress out about life. This is a time where there are some crazy people out there. What most kids go through is bullying. Some students might even be bullied by family, friends, or by their peers. This increases the violence in teens today. This is also another issue teens face today. Most teens suffer from made up depression; sure some are disorders but most aren’t and that affects a person negatively.
Today I’m faced with stress. I’m always stressing over school and I think that is due to my work ethics. I am more used to working at home but I hold off the work and end up procrastinating. I am also dealing with how I manage my time. This ties in with my procrastination and it just makes me work worse. I have been planning to start doing work before it’s due and I’ve done so a few times and it actually works well. I am not as stressed and of course have more leisure time which I spend with friends. Being a CTR person also helps. I know that if I have to do something there is no other option. I can’t find no other way around it because it would be wrong to not do my work.
A way to help teens overcome their challenges is by having them open up. Let them talk about their issues and there is when they begin to feel better. You just have to be friendly. Most kids who are depressed or are faced with difficult situations and they just need someone to hear them out. They might not have anyone close to them enough to make them feel comfortable so I think that be being that person you can help them get through their issues. Today teens need to be shown compassion because I like adults forget that teens are still not ready to deal with such conundrums. Today teens go through so much and for adults to show some compassion is all they really need.

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basics of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.”
By: John F. Kennedy
I agree with the know deceased former president that being physically fit is the basics to a more intellectual life. When someone is physically fit they know that hard work pays off, so they know that what they want right now is not what they want to do but the results are what they want. This is an important thing to have because a person with that mentally will push themselves because they know they could do it. That way you will train your brain into thinking the way you want it to think. An example could be that your brain may tell you that you already know the exam but deep down you know that practice makes perfect so in this case it would studding. You know that sudding will get you that A on the exam so you study and know you are, in a way, training your brain into thinking the way that best benefits you. To keep the physical part of the statement you will have to work out and have the correct diet. IN addition to that you need to keep your body healthy by abstaining yourself from doing drugs, smoking, or drinking. As you grow older you naturally lose brain cells and the intake of drugs will only speed that loss up. By drinking you are actually bloating yourself because of all the yeast in beer. By smoking you will ruin your lungs and that only shortens your life. It is just best to life a healthy life and also keep from junk food, which i should do so to. Any type of activity like running will do.
