“Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT.”
BY:Russell M. Nelson
My whole life my parents, teacher and other adults around me have always emphasize how important it is to not go with the flow because it doesn’t always lead to a good path. I feel that now that I am a little older I understand it better. Wrong is all around us and can take place pretty much anywhere. People can do wrong if they cross the street in the middle and not at the light they are committing wrong because if something goes wrong the driver is going to get in trouble. Although, jaywalking is wrong a lot of people do it. I’ve experience this everyday I walk home from school. At the corner of the school the lights take forever and as a result groups of inpatient students jaywalk. I don’t do it because I know that there is a 60 dollar fine and I think I know of better ways to spend 60 dollar. I do jaywalk but at least I make sure that there are no police or vehicles in the area. I strongly agree with Russell because everyone is not always right. The reason as to why people do this, according to me, is that they trust others to do the right thing and sometimes those other people don’t even themselves that what they are doing is wrong. That is another example of monkey do, monkey do. Trust is such a vehement that people tend to follow and live by it. An example could be doing drugs at a party. If your best friend invites you to a party where they are drinking and doing drugs that doesn’t mean you’re going to do them. Now, if your best friend tells you that what you are drinking is not alcohol you are going to believe her. If she then tells you that doing drugs is good for you and you see her having a good time due to drugs then you are going to believe her and do as she does. You trust her enough that she won’t hurt her own body that you decide to do as she does.
