“ Right is right only when entire.”
By: Victor Hugo
This student success statement by Victor Hugo is telling us that the only time we are saying the truth is when you are being totally and completely honest. From what I was able to interpret, if you tell somewhat the truth but lie about a little portion of it you are lying. Most people will do this and think they are saying the truth because they only lied a little bit. I have never thought of it like that. I always thought that because I only changed a little of the truth it was still true. An example for this is when you go out with friends and you do things you are not supposed to. You could tell your parents that you are going to the movies with your friends and then are coming back home. Then you come home late and tell your parents that you guys stayed to watch another movie when really you only went to see one movie and then went to a friends house without permission. Eventhough you did go to the movies you are still lying because you didn’t watch another movie. That is an example that is pretty relevant. I have actually done something like this before and can truly relate. Overall, I agree with Hugo and say that it is never right to lie eventhough, half is true. I will actually keep this in mind before lying because I have committed myself to be the best person I can be.
