“I trust that my hard work will pay off.”
I completely agree with Tyler because I know that if you work hard you will accomplish your dreams and achieve great things in the process. I also think that this statement reminds me of a saying that says that you should work hard now so that you don’t have to later on. That to me also says that I should work hard today to achieve my dreams that way I don’t have to later on. An example of this is me in high school right now. I am determined to keep working hard and am dedicated to volunteer work. I will work hard during high school so that I could be accepted into the college/university of my choice. As an example, I want to focus in human behavior so I will continue to understand my human body system class, as well as my physiology. I have also accepted the responsibility of the vice presidency of key club and will continue to work hard and do more volunteer events. I am working hard day and night to be the best student I could be. This will take me farther than just laying around my house. I will continue to look at this statement by Tyler Haws and work even harder today so that I can achieve my goals. The achievement of my goals is the pay off itself. It may also have even more of a payoff when I see that I got a job or even my own office.

“I won’t cheat”
By: DALE MURPHY
Today’s student success statement is a little short but it is as meaningful as it is short. The words I won't cheat re very meaningful because by saying them you are promising not to cheat. They may seem unimportant when using them throughout your day but Murphy gave us some examples where these words really do mean something. He gave us some examples of the olympics and the one where a runner used physical enhancement drugs to make her run faster and as a result she chose the right and confessed. Sadly for her, she was sent to jail due to he false answers to the FBI. He also talks about his foundation that is based on those three simple words, ”I won’t cheat.” In his foundation he promotes the use of the truth and being honest. He talks about where cheating gets you. Another of Murphy’s examples on how cheating is bad is when he said that you might not get caught cheating in the beginning but in the long run you will get caught and have to own up to your wrong doings. I can see how I could use this in real life, or at least in my life. An example of how I could use this is when I’m taking a test. I will sometimes be tempted to talk if I’m sitting with my friends and that is considered cheating so I will no longer do it

“Character Matters Most”
By: Dale Murphy
Like many people, Dale Murphy believes that character is the one that matter most. The way that people develop a good character is by being honest, dependable, kind to others and most importantly, having integrity. Like the previous SSS, the statement emphasizes how it is better to be a good person than anything else. I have realized this too and a school is a great example to prove this student success statement. In school there are a lot of people who want good grades will work hard to get them but then there are other people who are willing to do anything to get those good grades. Anything includes doing things you are not supposed to, like cheating. If you cheat on a test you are most likely going to get a good score and maybe even bump up your grade to an A. The thing is that by doing that you are not being a good person and that is the most important. By choosing the wrong you are choosing to be a CTW person. If you choose to do it again you will lose all trust and then people will associate your name with a bad thought.I think that character really does matter most because when you get a job a lot of the time the people who are interviewing you want good people to work for them.

Medical Volunteer Opportunities
Kaiser Permanente offers a great volunteer program called LAMC. You will work in a medical clinic setting. You can either work directly with patients or work in the offices. When doing that you will be assisting the hospital playrooms, read to children, providing patient support and providing customer service for the members and their family. When in an office position you will answer phone calls, enter data, you will wayfind for the patients, as well as be the informational desk. It will be useful to list as clinical experience when applying to medical school or when becoming a nurse. I found interesting that you get to familiarize yourself with 35 different medical settings while volunteering.
Another volunteer opportunity is at UCLA health. They are looking for interns who are dedicated and are ready for the surgical setting. As an intern you will be escorting families after surgeries and wait with them in the waiting room. You will also provide the family with clarification on the surgery. You are also assigned individual tasks day by day.

“It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today.”
By James Freeman Clarke
James Freeman Clarke is trying to tell us that our decisions today will determine our future. This reminds me of a statement by Thomas S. Monson who also believed decisions determine destiny. I agree with both of these men because sometimes before I do something I think about the outcome and then decide if it's worth it or not. I usually like to do this when i'm trying to keep myself from eating foods that are not good for me. I like to ask myself if that extra cookie is worth the struggle of losing it. I know that this example is more applicable for other people but I also think of things in the same was as Clarke. I usually like to think more along the lines of school. I like to think if it is worth it staying up late trying to finish all my homework,. Before i make my decision I like to compare the pros with the cons. I usually think if the number of points is really worth staying up until 1 or 12am. I always do because I know that these homework points will affect my future grade. This is just one example but this came to show how I already use this statement in my life on the daily. I will plan to continue to live up to this statement because it has helped me be the best student I can be. I mean I can be better but that will require me to sacrifice a lot of my time and I am someone who like to enjoy life while i can but still plan for the future.

“ The best way to predict your future is to create it.”
By: Charles Ketterer
This student success statement by Charles Ketterer is also a very real and heavy statement. By heavy, I mean that it has a lot depth and can be very eye opening to some people. I mean I understand that this statement is going to allow us to take control of our lives and make what we want with them. We make our lives what they are and if we decide to mess up then we are also deciding to mess up our lives. This is very true in the case that some people who want to better themselves. I believe that in this world there are always people trying to better themselves and the best way to that is by listening to Ketterer. Ketterer is telling us, from what I understand, that the best way to make our future what we want it to be we must make sure to make it what we want it to be. An example I find fitting is when a student decides she is going to an ivy league school. It is then up to her if that is going to happen or not. She has to make her future and the way she is going to do that us by doing everything she is supposed to do. She has to live the life she wants if she is willing to do the time. I see this as a true statement by Mr. Ketterer. I am determined to live by this statement because it will give me the motivation I need to keep going and completing my life. If i live up to this statement there is no doubt that i'm going to live the way I want to live.
