“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”
By. Benjamin Franklin
From the statement given to us by Benjamin Franklin I can infer that he means that being a good person is better than everything in the world. He mentions beauty, strength, and wealth because that, as a society, is what we think establishes a person. We have made friends with people because of what they have, or what they may do but neglect that beyond all of that is a person. We need to remember that being a good person really counts. You can be the richest, prettiest, or strongest person but be the mean and cold hearted one too. It is like that saying that says that it's what’s in the inside that matters not what's on the outside. An example of this can be a being friends with someone just because they have something really cool. You will be their friends only because they have the new basketball signed by your favorite player and not care that that person is actually really mean. You will keep being their friend because they are something. When really you should be their friend because you like who they are. If you do not like a person for their heart but for what they look like or have then you have an ill heart too and that makes you just as bad as they are. I think I have lived by this my whole life just because I have never wanted anyone to do that to me. I actually really like this statement and will remember it like I do with most of the statements that I see truth in.
